Appeal for information launched after assault on man and woman in Matlock |
||
|
We are appealing for information after a man and a woman were assaulted in Matlock. The incident happened when the victims left the Red Lion pub just off Matlock Green on Wednesday 18 March between 8.30pm and 8.45pm. A teenage boy riding a cycle rode around the corner and nearly collided with them. The rider has then dropped his bike and approached them before pushing a 63-year-old woman to the ground. A short while later, the other victim – a 72-year-old man – was walking in the vicinity of Hall Leys Park, close to the river bridge, when he noticed a group of about 20 youths. One of the group was the teenager who had been riding the bike earlier and he approached the victim before punching him to the face. The group, including the suspect, then left the area. The suspect is described as being white, about 15-years-old and with a skinny build. He was riding a black pedal bike with no lights on and was wearing a grey coloured tracksuit. Officers have made extensive enquiries into the incident and we are now asking for the public’s assistance. We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who knows who the suspect is. Of particular interest is anyone who has CCTV, Ring doorbell or dash cam footage which covers the location of both assault and has not already spoken to officers. Anyone with information is asked to contact us using one of the methods below and please quote incident number 26*159964:- You can also anonymously contact the independent charity CrimeStoppers, on 0800 555 111, or by visiting the CrimeStoppers website: https://crimestoppers-uk.org/ | ||
